You'll find many Harvesters in modern, standalone buildings – usually on the outskirts of most towns and cities in the south – and often next door to an Innkeeper's Lodge. The type of food offered is popular pub meals, including spit-roasted chicken and flame grilled steaks, as well as snacks and nibbles, breakfasts, and takeaway food.
They also do a great range of wines and juices, and of course beers and spirits, and the salad bar is free for those who order a mains course. The first Harvester was Courage's the George Inn in Morden, Surrey, in 1983, which later became a chain and was sold to the owner of Fosters. Trust House Forte also acquired Harvester and they leased dozens of pubs for the cause, mostly in the southeast and with Travelodges next to them. The chain was bought by Bass (1995) and then the rebranded Mitchells & Butlers in 2003.
